Schools and Public Spaces

Mid Cornwall Landscaping helps schools create practical outdoor spaces for play, learning and planting. We also welcome enquiries for parks and other public spaces in Cornwall, with each proposal assessed around the site, intended users, specification and project requirements.

Outdoor Spaces for Play and Learning

Natural play and planting can bring variety to school grounds. Depending on the brief, features can include sand and water play areas, raised growing beds, shaded spaces, wildlife habitats and sensory planting. The layout and materials should reflect how the space will be used and maintained. With years of experience working with schools across Cornwall, we’ve earned a reputation for creating play spaces that enhance the natural environment. Using sustainable, natural materials, we design spaces that encourage imaginative play and offer countless educational opportunities. With Ofsted and the curriculum increasingly emphasising outdoor education, we’re proud to help schools meet these goals through innovative design.

We’ve had the privilege of collaborating with Cornwall’s Wendy Titman, a leading expert in outdoor play, to create features such as:

• Sand and water play areas

• Raised garden beds for growing projects

• Sun shades and den-building spaces

• Wildlife habitats and sensory gardens

• And much more

Equipment and Surfacing Requirements

Where play equipment or safety surfacing is part of the project, the required specification, installation responsibilities and inspection arrangements should be established before work begins. We supply and install high-quality traditional play equipment, paired with certified safety surfacing such as rubber crumb and resin-bonded materials. All surfaces meet ROSPA standards, ensuring safety and peace of mind.

Planning the Work Around Your Site

School and public-space projects need clear arrangements for access, safeguarding, working hours and site safety. Tell us about any procurement requirements, required checks, drawings and programme constraints so these can be reviewed before the work is agreed. As approved contractors for Cornwall Council, you can rely on us to deliver projects to the highest standards. Every member of our team is DBS-checked, giving you confidence that your project is in safe and trusted hands.

Discuss Your School or Public-Space Project

Send us the site location, a short outline of the work, intended users, approximate budget and preferred programme. Please include any drawings, specifications, tender deadline and access requirements. We can then discuss the project and the information needed to take it forward.
